Wondering what we have been up to during the Covid-19 Pandemic?
After weeks of doing our part by staying home and baking every pizza and cookie recipe we could find (I'm sure most of you can relate) we decided to take a more active role in flattening the curve!
We originally started with donating our proprietary Luminology Technology® fabrics to any and all organizations donating masks to front line workers.
After the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received and in response to CDC's recommendations that EVERYONE wears a mask while out in public, we decided to take an even more active role.
We have now re-engineered our sun-protective clothing company to create Protective Face Masks using the same chemical-free, UPF 50+ Luminology Technology® fabrics. For every one purchased we donate one to a front line worker in need.
According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a simple face covering can reduce the spread of the Coronavirus by blocking outgoing respiratory droplets from coughs or sneezes of an infected person.
However, there is variation in how much masks might protect the wearer from incoming germs, depending on the fit and quality of the material used.
It is worth noting here that although our masks are not intended for medical use, they have been tested in a lab to have a 46% filtration rate (NaCl filtration efficiency) which is over twice as much as a 3 layered cotton mask and approaches the filtration efficiency of a surgical mask.
